Terrible Twos

One week from today is my sons second birthday. I still can't believe he is going to turn two! Seems like just yesterday I held him in my arm for the first time. Everyone talks about the 'terrible twos' and it makes me scared to think about that stage. So I've decided I'm not going to go into this stage thinking it's 'terrible.' I am going to embrace this stage and look at it in a positive light.
I don't think it's terrible for chlidren to assert their independence, it's just them growing into their own character and developing their own personality. That is a beautiful thing to watch, children figuring out who they are at such a young age. I also don't think it is 'terrible' for children to push limits, that is how they learn and figure out where the line is drawn. As a parent, this is something we have to deal with a lot (especially in those teen years lol so better gear up now). Yes, even temper tantrums can be looks at in a positive light. This is how children learn to control their emotions. I've already had to deal with these tantrums, and I really find it useful to figure out what the real problem is. Usually my son only throws tantrums when he feels he is not being understood and not getting what he wants/needs. Once it is figured out and I remind him to use his words, the problem is usually fixed!
So I am excited to see what the next year has in store for us, and see how my baby, I mean toddler :( develops into a little man. I am excited to watch him grow. I am excited to teach him new things. And I am really excited to share this time with him. So good by terrible twos, hello terrific twos :)

Of course no post is complete with out a picture
See not so terrible ;)

How funny! Love the picture. Good attitude, going into it with an open mind. I'm sure he'll be great! Hey, my mom always tells me even though I definitely had a bad case of the terrible two's, at least I didn't rebel as a high schooler!
