My Me Time With The Hollie Rouge

I am so excited for today's My Me Time! I have not only one of my must read bloggers here, but a real life friend, Andi of The Hollie Rogue. She's here talking about baths, bedtimes, and priorities. I met Andi at Creative Estates last month and your wouldn't even believe how gorgeous and sweet she is! I only wish we could have spent more time getting to know one another. Okay, enough gushing, check out her blog for yourself, but first read her my me time post below.

Hi, I'm Andi--mom to two little ones, wife, elementary teacher turned SAHM, Christ follower, crafter, and wannabe photographer.  I blog at The Hollie Rogue where you can expect to hear about my family, faith, DIY projects, and real-life stories.  Every Friday we have a photography link party where anyone from newbie to professional shows off what you've been photographing that week.  I'm a life-long learner and love learning something new each day!

What do you do for your “me” time?
I spend my "me time" in my favorite place---the bath!  Almost every night, after my husband and I put the kids to bed (around 7pm), I draw a bubble bath and read.  Talk about multi-tasking, right? :)   Sometimes it's my book club book, sometimes it's the Bible, and sometimes I just fall asleep.  It might seem silly, but I really look forward to that 1/2 hour of just relaxation, quiet, and time for myself.

Do you take part in activities or hobbies for your “me” time?
Reading is one of my favorite hobbies and it is actually amazing how much I can get through when I take some time each day to read a couple of chapters.

What do you do to ensure that you get your “me” time? i.e. do you wake up early or stay up late?
I think the best thing to do to make sure that I am getting some time for myself but also time with my husband, is to set an early bedtime for the kids.  We love on our kids all day and spend lots of time together as a family, but when 7:00pm hits, it is time for kids to be in their room and mommy and daddy to spend time together.

How much does it mean to you to get time to yourself?
It means A LOT..for my sanity and so that I can be a healthier version of myself for my kids and husband.  I have been thinking a lot about priorities, though,  and did a post about biblical priorities (as I understand them) and can't find anything about putting ME as a super high priority.  I think there is a balance that has to be found between taking care of yourself (of course a necessity) but also not getting lost in a self-absorbed mentality.

How often do you get your “me” time?
Almost every evening, give or take.

Why do you think it is important for women to have that time to invest in something they enjoy?
I think it helps you keep track of who you are apart from your kids and family.  You are a unique woman who God has created with a unique purpose.  He doesn't want you to loose His purposes for His kingdom just because you are covered in formula and poopy diapers.  Times of reflection, fun, and renewal are important to all of us, moms or dads.

Thank you so much for your post Andi! It was such a pleasure to have you here today. I love how you set a bedtime for your children so that you can get some "me" time, along with time with your husband. You truly know how to balance out all areas of your life, a quality that is very admirable :)

Such good advice! Even though I'm not a momma yet, I think this is such wonderful wisdom - we all need to take time out for ourselvs to refresh and recharge! :)
