Today I have one of my favorite bloggy friends, Lindsay of Trial by Sapphire, here to tell us about her me time. Lindsay is such a sweetest, encouraging, and upbeat woman. She is also very musically talented! Seriously, go here and listen for yourself. I've been trying to convince her to make E a CD with his favorite lullabies ;) While I wait for that CD to be made, read Lindsay's post and go check out her blog!

Hi, MMT Readers (& lovers of Lisa, of course)! My name is Lindsay, and I blog over at Trial By Sapphire. I'm a recentlywed, musical theatre lover, and vegetarian who strives to live abundantly every day. I'm a fancy, shmancy executive assistant and office manager by day and a blog-obsessed wife and cat parent by night! I love this series, because "me" time is important for everyone. Thank you for letting me contribute, Lisa!

What do you do for your “me” time?
Until my husband and I moved one month ago, going to yoga and Pilates was my "me" time. When we moved here last year, I found a great studio that I really felt at home in. I loved going to the classes, and it didn't hurt that I was working out at the same time! Now that we've moved to a smaller town and nearest studio is 30 minutes away, I've resorted to researching online resources with recorded classes or live streaming classes. (Does anyone have any recommendations?) Consequently, I've been able to invest a lot more time into blogging. Believe it or not, blogging has become a huge part of my "me" time!
Do you take part in activities or hobbies for your “me” time?

Yoga, Pilates, and researching ways to create a sustainable eco-friendly lifestyle are my new interests. I really need to get back in the habit of reading every night too! Although it isn't something that I do alone, I also consider outings with my husband to be "me" time. We enjoy the farmers market, going out to lunch, and going to the movies for a Sunday matinee. This is my husband. :-)

What do these activities/hobbies mean to you?
They help me achieve balance which is something I've really only gotten a good grasp of in the last couple of years. Achieving balance gives me a peaceful mind, a happy heart, and a more productive routine.

(That's me in the grey tank top!)
What do you do to ensure that you get your “me” time? i.e. do you wake up early or stay up late?
I have definitely stayed up late! It's not a habit I plan to keep, because sleep is so important. There have been many times that I've gone to yoga or belly dancing (cheers to trying new things!) after work only to come home and stay up past midnight to write posts, reply to e-mails, and read other blogs. Yikes! I guess this is more a time management issue than ensuring I get my "me" time. Oops! Working on it... ;-)
How much does it mean to you to get time to yourself?
I think it's important to have personal time just to reflect and re-calibrate. Whether it's through praying, journaling, meditating, singing, running, or crocheting, everyone should take advantage of "me" time.
How often do you get your “me” time?
Although I unintentionally end up writing mommy blog posts pretty often, I'm not a mother yet. So it's much easier for me to get my "me" time. I never go more than two days without getting some "me" time. I know. Lucky me!
Why do you think it is important for women to have that time to invest in something they enjoy?
I believe that I need to take care of myself to be healthy, happy, inspired, and productive. It is only then that I can be the best person, wife, daughter, sister, and friend to others. A good analogy is the instruction that flight attendants give during those safety demonstrations. For those who pay attention (which it's usually just me!), they tell passengers to put your own life jacket and oxygen mask on first so that you're able to help others. Ain't that the truth! In order to give your best self to someone, you must take care of yourself first.
