WIW: Personal Style

Photobucket
Stripe Top: TJ Maxx. Cardigan & Jeans: AE. Necklace: Target.

Every time I get dressed for the day I find myself trying new looks, putting tops together with cardigans that I would have never done in the past, rummaging through my accessories to find matching colors, and trying new things with my hair that I haven't done since I was 12.

It's funny to me that I have spent the last 10 years or so not thinking about those things. Instead I spent the last 10 years dressing myself to "fit in". Shopping at American Eagle, Hollister, and Abercrombie and fitch in efforts to look like everyone else.

I don't think these stores are horrible, as matter of fact I still shop at AE (it's the only place I can find jeans that fit), but I also don't think that shirts with a large brand name across the front is classified as personal style.

Although my outfits are pretty simple, I am far from a fashionista, I feel like I am starting a new chapter.
I am dressing for me
I am wearing outfits that I like.
I am trying new trends that I feel comfortable in.
I would say that is a much better start to finding my own personal style.

I'm digging that necklace! Target has the best accessories. You look fantastic by the way!

You are adorable, and I always love your outfits. Lately, I've really started dressing for myself too. I find that it is way too much work to worry about other people when I'm getting dressed (they usually don't even care anyway)!

Lisa, what I love about your style is that it is not contrived-its effortless and beautiful. My favorite combo:)

Dressing for yourself is the best way to dress! Otherwise, it's too much pressure, and that's no fun at all.

You look gorgeous as always!

I love this - I have a cardigan the exact same color but longer, I think I'm going to get a striped shirt to go under it after seeing this!
