Literally! Wednesday afternoon while volunteering at our church day camp, it was brought to my attention the wild fires in Colorado, in particular Colorado Springs. I had no idea the severity of these fires.
32,000 people were evacuated from their homes
346 homes were destroyed
18, 500 acres burned
1, 200 firefighters working
15% contained
cost of the fire 3.2 million
How heart wrenching to see those numbers and these photos
This fire brings much sadness to me, as just last summer we were living just south of this area. We visited the springs often, so it's hard to believe such a beautiful area is going up in flames and so many people are being affected.
I pray, pray for the people who have lost their homes, the people who were evacuated and are await faith of their homes, I pray for the firefighters who are working so hard to get a hold on the fire, for the officers who are helping keep people out of harms way, for the state as this was the largest fire in it's history. I also want to pray for
all of the people and fires going on in the west coast.
Will you also keep these people in your thoughts and prayers this weekend.

It really is so heartbreaking! The San Diego firestorm in 2007 was really scary. It was out of control, and ashes actually fell from the sky. The same thing happened a few years earlier, and there was a citywide health alert for everyone to stay indoors because of the ashes. All schools, including colleges, were shut down. It was intense.
My heart goes out to those in Colorado who are affected by this. Thoughts and prayers going their way!
I live about an hour south of Colorado Springs & all of this has been so heart breaking to watch. It is just unreal... A couple of people my mom works with have lost their homes... so devastating. But thankfully things are looking much better than they did earlier in the week & the firefighter have gotten the fire more controlled. So happy to see other's praying for Colorado! God is always working! :)
So scary! Utah is having a lot of fires too much not this much damage to HOMES! so sad
This is my home. Thankfully, my family {and my house} were never in immediate danger, but for several days, we were stuck inside because the smoke was so strong.....It smelled like a campfire and nickle size ash was falling in my front yard like rain. This has truly been a tragedy.....I have had friends and family lose their houses. Prayers are still needed, even though the skies are finally blue today. A friend of mine is one of the 1000 firefighters on the mountain right now ~ and he said it was like looking at a war zone. So heartbreaking....
one of my friends from college lives there, and she kept posting pictures on her Facebook. Pray that it's under control and soon!

I think it is so important to put things in perspective - I'm glad you've done that here
