It's been awhile since we've had a My Me Time guest post, but I am so happy the series is making a come back with the lovely Elizabeth, who blogs over at La Vita e Bella. If you are wondering what La Vita e Bella means, it is Life is Beautiful. I know this because I almost got the saying tattooed on my back! I did however, decide against it, but who knows, maybe I will change my mind ;) Anyways, isn't it a cute blog name? Almost as cute as Elizabeth is! Her and her hubby make the most adorable couple (as you will see down below). Now enough rambles, let's read more about Elizabeth and what she likes to do for her 'me' time.
When you are done reading all about her, can you please leave me a comment letting me know if you think I should continue this series? I haven't had much feedback about it, and I want to make sure you girls enjoy reading it. The whole point of the series is to inspire you, so if it's not doing that, then perhaps it has lost it's purpose. Leave any feedback, good or bad [I'm tough ;)]. Thanks!

Saving a Marriage:
I got married pretty young, and pretty fast.
Ben and I met December 6 - when I was 20.
We were engaged May 6.
We were married August 6.

I love my husband, a lot a lot a lot, but let me tell you, we are SO different. Different enough that when we started dating, my roommates took bets on how long it was going to last - the longest guess: 2 weeks.
Turns out they were pretty wrong, but that’s not because Ben and I became any “less different.” We still have some very different interests and as much as I love him, I appreciate him more if I get enough of my “me time.”

The two of us have pretty different schedules so “me time” is easy to have in our small apartment when he’s gone. Here are some of my lifesavers this first year of marriage:
- Bubble baths (do you ever wish you could just sleep in a bubble bath? or is it just me?)
- Baking (think warm bread, gooey cookies, and airy cupcakes)
- Mindless iPhone games (confession -sometimes after a long day I need ten minutes on a bed with my solitaire)
- Blogging! This is my time to create and reflect. Ultimate me time.
- Just getting ready for the day. Doing my hair, putting on make up, and blasting country music in an empty apartment is sometimes all I need in a day :)
- Dancing. Yes, this is done in a studio with other people but when the music starts there could be no one else in the room and it would feel the same to me.
- Taking walks, by myself. Just to think.
- Reading. I love getting lost in a good book. Although Ben hates it because its hard for me to pay attention to anything else till its done, whoops :)
I think “me” time is so important - not just for me - but for my relationship with my husband. I don’t think of it as a selfish thing because I know when I’ve had my time then I’m more invested in “our time.” It's like my friend used to say, “a happy wife is a happy life.” ;)

For more of what I do during my “me time” and what we do together during “our time” come visit me over at La Vita e Bella where life and love are one and the same :)
