15 Random Facts

Happy Friday!

If you are on Instagram or Twitter, I'm sure you have seen people post 5 random facts about them. I enjoy reading these and have I've posted a couple myself, you can find those @lisa_mommasmetime. Well I thought it would be fun to extend those to my blog and post a few more facts that you might not have known about me!

Photobucket

1. I have two brothers and have always gotten a long with guys more than girl.
2. My dream was to join the peace corps after college. That didn't happen, but I still dream of joining some day.
3. My husband and I dated long distance and fell in love through phone calls. Proof that long distance relationships can work!
4. I've been to 5 different colleges in three different states.
5. I don't usually admit it, but E gets his sassiness from me :) My nickname from co-workers in high school were sass or sassy.
6. I saved every single letter my husband sent to me while he was deployed in Iraq. They are in a box somewhere...
7. I've always wanted a big family. I think 4 children would be the perfect number!
8. I have a passion for photography, but never feel like I am 'good enough' to go pro.
9. I always, always paint my toe nails a shade of pink. I don't know why, but it always happens.
10. The mountains is my favorite place to be! Which was the hardest part about leaving Colorado.
11. My husband and I have super sarcastic sense of humors... Some people don't enjoy that so much ha!
12. I have always hated my name! It's always been associate with Lisa Simpson or Lisa Marie Presley. If I could have changed my name when I was younger, I would have chosen Leslie.
13. I am very shy and socially awkward... Remember this if you ever meet me in person ;)
14. I'm 24 but my face still breaks out like a 13 year old and I am always asked if E is my brother.
15. I can't go a day without showering.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Any fun plans?
I know we are going to be enjoying sometime at our county fair. Be on the look out for many instagram photos :)

A little Friday flash back of my favorite summer photos.

It's hard to believe these photos were from two years ago! Two years ago we spent our summer in Wisconsin while we were in between jobs, after we got out of the Marine Corps and before we moved out to Colorado. I just love to look at old photos of E. When you think about two years, it doesn't seem like that long ago, until you look at your child and see how much of a difference two years has made. It's remarkable to me how much E has grow in just two years. From running around in a diaper and cowboy boots to wiping off my kiss and complaining "mooommmy!" because you know that is just so uncool at three years old. Sometimes I wish life had a pause button.

Hi, we are Julie and Courtney, also known as The Chirping Moms! We are two moms that are close friends, who also happen to be neighbors! Between us we have four little kids, three and under, and spend our days chasing after them. I'm Nathan, a mid-twenty year old male blogger and proud of it. I'm married to a beautiful wife named Erin and we have a gorgeous one month old daughter, Lillian. I'm a dog lover and my yellow lab, Chloe can usually always be seen at my side. I started blogging in college but then gave it up which I totally regret now! A year or so ago I started blogging again after I stumbled across an old friends blog. I blog for me and my posts are never the same, there's definitely no routine and I often try to link up and meet other bloggers. I just recently completed a huge makeover to the blog, the design is brand new and so is much of the content! I'm from New England and I'm a big New England sports fan! My favorite saying is that "life is good isn't just a trademark, it's a fact!"

What I Wore: What I Am & What I Am Not

Photobucket
Stripped top: TJ Maxx. Shorts & Belt: AE. Sandals: Walmart

Photobucket

I got this idea to write what I am and what I am not from the lovely Aunie. To put a little twist on it I thought I would do a little fashion edition. First we will start with what I am not:

I am not a fashion blogger
I do not shop at designer stores
I am not a trendsetter
I do not take fashion risk
I am not a model
I do not wear heels

I am a normal momma
I only wear clothes I feel comfortable in
I am a frugal shopper
I shop during sales and at clearance racks
I am figuring out my own style
I use pinterest for outfit inspiration
I feel awkward asking my husband to take my WIWW photos

So what are you and what are you not?

Saturday Feature: Live.Laugh.L0ve.

This month was my first month taking paid for sponsors, and to be honest, I was a bit nervous about this change. I felt like this was a big step in blogging and a large commitment. I was nervous that no one would want to sponsor my little blog.

Cassie was the first person to reach out. She is just the sweetest girl and it's a pleasure to get to know her better. Now you get a chance to get to know her too! She's here today to share about her blog and her 'me' time.

 ****
Hey yall! I'm Cassie & I blog over at Live.Laugh.L0ve. where I share our journey through this beautiful, crazy life. You will find lots of pictures here & here, I frequently participate in linkups, I talk about my boys a lot & all about life! Among lots of other things as well!

I am so excited to be guest posting on Lisa's blog today! She is such a sweetheart, gorgeous and has such cute style! Of course, you already know this. :) Anyways, today I am going to talk about my "me" time. Something I am so for & I was actually just talking to my little sister about it today.

Everyday the boys have an 1 1/2 - 2 hours of quiet time in which time they lay down and watch a movie and this is where my "me" time happens. I don't worry about the cleaning that needs to get done or anything chaotic. I focus on what I want to do.

Sometimes it's reading a good book. {I am a huge book worm. I read all the time.}

Sometimes I work on new shop products.

or I'll catch up on a show or write my own book. {my dream is to be a published author}

Regardless. It's something I want to do. Something that I don't have to do or I should be doing. It's simply what I want to do and I feel so refreshed after I take that time to do something for me each day. Because without it, I simply forget about myself during the day. In between my husband, taking care of the boys, playing with them, cleaning, laundry, blogging, e-mails, getting orders done. I can easily forget that I need to take some "me" time.

If you don't have me time, I highly recommend trying it out. :) Thank you so much Lisa for having me here today!!!

La Vita e Bella

It's been awhile since we've had a My Me Time guest post, but I am so happy the series is making a come back with the lovely Elizabeth, who blogs over at La Vita e Bella. If you are wondering what La Vita e Bella means, it is Life is Beautiful. I know this because I almost got the saying tattooed on my back! I did however, decide against it, but who knows, maybe I will change my mind ;) Anyways, isn't it a cute blog name? Almost as cute as Elizabeth is! Her and her hubby make the most adorable couple (as you will see down below). Now enough rambles, let's read more about Elizabeth and what she likes to do for her 'me' time.

When you are done reading all about her, can you please leave me a comment letting me know if you think I should continue this series? I haven't had much feedback about it, and I want to make sure you girls enjoy reading it. The whole point of the series is to inspire you, so if it's not doing that, then perhaps it has lost it's purpose. Leave any feedback, good or bad [I'm tough ;)]. Thanks!

Saving a Marriage:

I got married pretty young, and pretty fast.
Ben and I met December 6 - when I was 20.
We were engaged May 6.
We were married August 6.

I love my husband, a lot a lot a lot, but let me tell you, we are SO different. Different enough that when we started dating, my roommates took bets on how long it was going to last - the longest guess: 2 weeks.

Turns out they were pretty wrong, but that’s not because Ben and I became any “less different.” We still have some very different interests and as much as I love him, I appreciate him more if I get enough of my “me time.”

The two of us have pretty different schedules so “me time” is easy to have in our small apartment when he’s gone. Here are some of my lifesavers this first year of marriage:

  • Bubble baths (do you ever wish you could just sleep in a bubble bath? or is it just me?)
  • Baking (think warm bread, gooey cookies, and airy cupcakes)
  • Mindless iPhone games (confession -sometimes after a long day I need ten minutes on a bed with my solitaire)
  • Blogging! This is my time to create and reflect. Ultimate me time.
  • Just getting ready for the day. Doing my hair, putting on make up, and blasting country music in an empty apartment is sometimes all I need in a day :)
  • Dancing. Yes, this is done in a studio with other people but when the music starts there could be no one else in the room and it would feel the same to me.
  • Taking walks, by myself. Just to think.
  • Reading. I love getting lost in a good book. Although Ben hates it because its hard for me to pay attention to anything else till its done, whoops :)

I think “me” time is so important - not just for me - but for my relationship with my husband. I don’t think of it as a selfish thing because I know when I’ve had my time then I’m more invested in “our time.” It's like my friend used to say, “a happy wife is a happy life.” ;)

For more of what I do during my “me time” and what we do together during “our time” come visit me over at La Vita e Bella where life and love are one and the same :)

What I Wore: Fishtail

Photobucket
Dress: Old Navy. Sandals: Target. Necklace: Kohl's. Belt: Charlotte Russe.

Photobucket

I've been on the search for new hairstyles lately, the fishtail braid has always been intimidating to me, but after today I've realize it is actually really easy to do! All you do is split your hair in half, take little sections of hair and cross them over to the other side. Then you continue all the way down until you reach the end and secure it with an elastic band. Very easy, right? If not, here is a hair tutorial that explains it much better!
The fishtail braid is on trend and a great choice if you are in dire need of a haircut or you don't feel like washing your hair.

What are currently some of your favorite hairstyles?
